One of my main goals for 2016 was to start using more cruelty free beauty products, and to find alternatives for my current products that are not cruelty free. It can be quite a difficult process seeking out brands that are honest with their testing policies, however, wonderful companies, like Earth Conscious, make life so much easier. Earth Conscious are the creators of Hippy Paste; an all natural deodorant made from 100% natural ingredients. It contains anti-bacterial properties that combat body odour all day long AND it’s not an antiperspirant, so it won’t block your sweat glands, allowing your body to remove toxins as nature intended – lovely!
My experience with Hippy Paste:
Hippy Paste comes in 6 different scents; lavender, citrus, tropical, ylang ylang, pure and mint. I opted for the lavender flavour simply because I love the smell of lavender and the calming properties it has, however, I would love to try the mint scent too. Here’s my Hippy Paste:
The main goal of is Hippy Paste is to provide an all natural deodorant that’s a healthier option for your body and the environment. They use tins to hold the deodorant as it’s more environmentally friendly and super convenient. You can recycle the aluminium once you’re finished with the tin, and it’s way easier to pop into your bag than a standard aerosol can!
I’ve been using the Hippy Paste for about 2 weeks now. I won’t lie to you guys; it takes some getting used to! Firstly, the scent (although lovely) is very subtle, so if you’re a guy or girl that likes a really strong scented deodorant this will be quite different for you. However, just because the smell isn’t strong, doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. It definitely does. I noticed throughout the day, I just didn’t smell of anything? Or, if i wore perfume, that’s all I could smell. The smells are so subtle because Earth Conscious only use natural ingredients, and their scents come from essential oils, so there’s no nasty chemicals in there to enhance the smell. In fact, because the deodorants are made with all natural ingredients, they are technically edible! However, I haven’t tried to eat it, and I wouldn’t recommend it… Unless you really want to – go wild!
One other thing to point out is, because Hippy Paste is not an antiperspirant, it doesn’t stop you sweating all together. I don’t tend to sweat that much anyway, but this basically means your body still removes toxins from the skin through sweating, but it doesn’t smell at all. Pretty cool.

If you’re not already tempted to try this new style of deodorant, here’s a few more reasons why I’ve loved making the switch to Hippy Paste:
- As well as being anti-bacterial and earth friendly, these deodorants are also pretty economical! The tins retail at £5 each on the Hippy Paste website, which is a lot cheaper than most other natural deodorants on the market. The tins are also 60ml which is a lot of product! You only need enough product to cover the tip of your finger per underarm, so one tin will last you a long time!
- It’s SO easy to apply. The deodorant is in a cream paste form. The easiest way to apply it is to scoop a small amount up with your fingers and rub it in under your arms. If you have any residue on your fingertips it also makes a great hand cream so just rub it in or rinse it off. No mess. Applying deodorant to your underarms with your fingers may feel unusual at first, but it’s just your armpits and Earth Conscious want to encourage everyone to get more in touch with their bodies!
- Earth Conscious are also super awesome because they donate a percentage of each sale to the Marine Conservation Society. The MCS is a UK charity that protects our seas, shores and wildlife, so they’re super important and I love the fact that a bit of the money I spend on the deodorant goes to helping these guys. Earth Conscious say “Conservation of our waters is very important to us. It is one of the reasons we do not compromise on our packaging, despite the challenges it presents us, we do not use plastic.”
SO, what do you think? Will you give this body AND earth friendly deodorant a try? If you do I’d love to know what scent you choose and how you get along with making the switch.
